Tertio de MONTROSE 2016
Château Montrose is located in the town of Saint-Estèphe, in the Médoc of Bordeaux. It was classified Deuxième Grand Cru Classé (Second Growth) in the 1855 classification. The vineyard covers 95 hectares and borders on Cos d´Estournel and Pauillac. It is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Since 2006, the estate has been investing in environmental aspects such as recycling rainwater and wastewater, and also using, for example, solar energy and low-consumption installations.
Tertio de Montrose is the Château's third wine. Named Saint Estèphe de Montrose when it was created in 2008, it was renamed Tertio de Montrose in 2016. It is a blend of Merlot (61%), Cabernet Sauvignon (32%), Petit Verdot (5%) and Cabernet Franc (2 %), from lots of younger vines and lee wines. The wine is aged for 12 months in barrels, 15% of which are new.
