Château CANTEMERLE 1987
Château Cantemerle is located in Macau en Médoc, in the Haut-Médoc region of Bordeaux. It was classified Fifth Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification. After having belonged to the Villeneuve (1579-1892) and Dubos (1892-1980) families, Château Cantemerle was acquired in 1981 by the SMA Group (Société Mutuelle d’Assurance des entreprises du bâtiment et des travaux publics). The renovation of the technical installations and the replanting of the vineyard are immediately underway. After two decades dedicated to oenological progress, the vine is back in the spotlight with a more environmentally friendly approach and the application of "green" techniques aimed at improving the quality of the grapes. Today, the Cantemerle vineyard covers 98 hectares, of which 95 hectares are in production.
The Grand Vin of Château Cantemerle is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The harvest is manual with selective sorting in the vineyard. The grapes are destemmed and then macerated for 28 to 30 days. Aging lasts 12 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.
Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot
