La Croix de Carbonnieux - Blanc 2018
Château Carbonnieux is located in Pessac-Léognan, in the wine region of Bordeaux. The estate was founded in the 13th Century and, throughout the following six centuries, its ownership has passed between many of France's bourgeois families, including the Bouchereau family (founder of Clos des Millésimes). The modern history of the château began in the mid-1900s, when it was purchased by the Perrin family. Marc Perrin and his son first started a significant replanting campaign that took the estate to 45 hectares in 1970 then to 70 hectares in 1980, to reach almost 95 hectares today. Château Carbonnieux strives to practice organic and sustainable farming throughout the vineyards and is labelled HVE3 (High Environmental Value Level 3).
La Croix de Carbonnieux Blanc is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (65%) and Sémillon (35%). The harvest is manual followed by a double sorting of the grapes before pressing and cold settling. Fermentation and aging are carried out in barrels or wooden vats. Aging lasts 9 months on fine lees in barrels, 25% of which are new.
Grape varieties: 65% Sauvignon Blanc, 35% Sémillon
