Saint Aubin - History Collection Isle de France - Millésime 2005 - 40%
The Domaine de Saint Aubin is located in Savanne, Mauritius. It brings together an old colonial architecture house dating from the 19th century, a vanilla plantation, a tropical flower greenhouse and a rum cellar. The sugar cane plantation on the estate dates back to 1819.
Isle de France is part of the History Collection range of Saint Aubin. It is a blend of the best old rums of the distillery. With the History Collection series, la Rhumerie du Domaine de Saint Aubin pays tribute to certain historical facts that shaped Mauritius. This “Cuvée Grande Réserve” commemorates the tricentenary of the French arrival in Mauritius in September 1715, as expressed by the union of the deer and the dodo to the coat of arms of Isle de France. Following the harassment of piracy, France sent a battleship commanded by Guillaume Dufresne d’Arsel, a native of Saint-Malo, to take possession of the island on the 20th of September 1715 on behalf of Louis XIV. Mauritius was then renamed “Isle de France” and this is how France acquired a rear base to secure the commercial shipping with India.
