Domaine de Beaurenard - Gran Partita 2015
Domaine de Beaurenard is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Rhône Valley. It has been a family estate for 7 generations, today managed by brothers Daniel and Frédéric Coulon. The vineyard covers 32 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 25 hectares in Rasteau and 6 hectares in Côtes-du-Rhône. They cultivate the 13 grape varieties authorised for the AOC there, and the average age of the vines is around 45 years. All vineyards are managed in certified organic farming, and also cultivated in certified biodynamics. The grapes, harvested manually at optimum maturity, are taken to the winery in small capacity boxes to prevent crushing of the grains, which would cause oxidation to be detrimental to quality.
Gran Partita is a blend of the estate's conservatory of grape varieties and one of the mother plots, both planted with the 13 grape varieties of the appellation, without a single one predominating. The manual harvest is sorted and then co-fermented. The long fermentation allows a delicate extraction. The aging lasts 24 months in foudres, then the wine is aged in the bottle before being released.
Grape varieties: Grenache (Black, Grey, White), Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Clairette (White, Rose), Vaccarèse, Bourboulenc, Roussanne, Counoise, Muscardin, Picpoul (White, Grey, Black), Picardan, and Terret Noir
