Domaine de la Janasse - Cuvée Chaupin 2010
The Domaine de la Janasse is located in Courthézon, in the Southern Rhône . It was founded in 1967 by Aimé Sabon , who took over the vines from his father (who brought his grapes to the cooperative cellar) and his father-in-law (who sold the wine to traders). He created his own cellar in 1973 and expanded the estate from 15 to 90 hectares. In 1991, after a BTA in viticulture and oenology in Beaune and a BTS in marketing in Mâcon, Christophe Sabon joined his father who left him the keys to the cellar. In 2001, Isabelle, Christophe's sister, an oenologist who graduated from the Faculty of Toulouse, joined the team. The philosophy of the estate is oriented on 4 axes: respect for the terroir and the environment , reasoned work in the vineyard, vinification and aging adapted to seek the expression of the terroirs and thoughtful marketing towards qualitative distribution networks.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Chaupin is made from Grenache whose vines were planted from 1912 on the cold and late-ripening terroirs of Chapouin, Janasse and the La Crau plateau. The harvest is manual with sorting in the vineyard. Part of the harvest (80%) is destemmed, the maceration lasts 26 days with daily manual pigeages. The aging lasts 12 months , for 2/3 in tuns and 1/3 in demi-muids of 600 liters.
Grape variety: 100% Grenache
