TAKAMAKA - Extra Dark - Ex Bourbon Cask - 43%
Takamaka is a distillery located in La Plaine Saint-André , on the east coast of Mahé in the Seychelles . Built by the Jorre de Saint Jorre family in 1792, La Plaine Saint-André was a plantation estate surrounded by exotic gardens. It covered over 24 hectares of land at its peak and played an important role in the agricultural economy of Seychelles in the 1900s, growing cinnamon, vanilla, coconut and patchouli for export to Europe. Over the years, La Plaine Saint-André has served many functions such as a coconut mill, a national monument, a boat repair yard, a royal car garage, an eco-museum, a restaurant and even an art gallery. art. It burned down and it was rebuilt but neglected when funding was scarce. In 2008, after four years of hard campaigning, Trois Frères Distillery was granted a 50-year lease and spent the next two years lovingly and carefully restoring the land.
