Château MARQUIS DE TERME 1981
Château Marquis de Terme is located in the Margaux appellation, in the Bordeaux wine region. It is classified Fourth Grand Cru Classé . The history of the estate dates back to 1762 when François de Peguilhan, Marquis of Terme, married Mademoiselle Ledoulx d'Emple, whose dowry was the estate. As with many estates belonging to the landed gentry, the property was sequestered during the French Revolution and a succession of properties followed. Nevertheless, for much of the 19th century, the estate was run by the Feuillerat family until the stock market crash of 1929. In 1935, the château was purchased by Pierre Sénéclauze who then passed it on to his three sons Pierre-Louis, Philippe and John. From 2009, the management of the domain is entrusted to the general manager Ludovic David who works in close collaboration with the Sénéclauze family.
The Grand Vin of Château Marquis de Terme is made from 39 hectares of thick gravel rich in quartz and quartzite. This terroir allows Cabernet Sauvignon, the main grape variety, to reveal itself. Vinification takes place in concrete vats and aging in oak barrels (40% new) for an average of 18 months.
Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot
