The Real McCoy - 10 years old - Virgin Oak - 46%
The Real McCoy rum brand produces Single Blended rums in Barbados . Its history dates back to January 1920 with Bill McCoy , the Prohibition-era rum pioneer. He was the first to fill a boat with liquor in the Caribbean, sail it to New York City, and legally operate as a floating liquor store three miles from shore. Bill McCoy made his reputation because he never adulterated alcohol. The brand's founder, Bailey Pryor , had the idea to make The Real McCoy Rum when he was producing a documentary film about Bill McCoy for public television in the United States. During his research for the film, Bailey traveled to the Caribbean island of Barbados, where he met Richard Seale , the 4th generation master distiller at his family's Foursquare distillery. Together they developed the range of small-batch craft rums, distilled in a combination of copper still and column still and aged in ex-Bourbon American oak barrels .
The Real McCoy 10 Year Old is a limited edition of 3,000 bottles. This rum is aged separately; 12 years in Bourbon barrels and 10 years in virgin oak barrels . The barrels are then assembled.
