Château LE BOSCQ 2003
Château Le Boscq is located in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, in the Bordeaux wine region. It has belonged to Maison Dourthe since 1995. Its terroir culminates at 18 meters above sea level and is made up of a hillside of gravel mixed with clay. The 18-hectare vineyard is positioned opposite the Gironde estuary. The Estuary, a real natural regulator, attenuates the cold winters and the very hot summers. Château Le Boscq therefore benefits from a saving microclimate.
Château Le Boscq is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged for 12 to 14 months in oak barrels. The 2003 vintage for Bordeaux was very good despite extremely hot weather conditions. The year saw unprecedented record heat which created an extraordinary vintage. The growing season was extremely hot and dry and temperatures remained high throughout the nights and days. Some welcome rainfall in September relieved the vineyard, especially in the north of the Médoc.
