Dog Point - Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Dog Point is located in Marlborough , on the South Island of New Zealand . The estate was established by Ivan and Margaret Sutherland and is one of the oldest privately owned vineyards in Marlborough, with its first plantings in the late 1970s. While working at Cloudy Bay Vineyards, Ivan met James Healy, where the duo played an integral role in the evolution of the Cloudy Bay brand. Discovering they shared the same aspirations, Ivan, Margaret, James, and Wendy returned to a hands-on approach, launching the Dog Point label in 2004 with fruit from the 2002 vintage. Today, both couples are actively involved in all facets of the business. Succession plans are in place with the next generation of the Sutherland family involved in managing day-to-day operations. Dog Point Vineyard owns and operates the largest certified organic “Biogro” vineyard in New Zealand.
Sauvignon Blanc grapes are hand-harvested from eight plots in the Dog Point vineyard in the Wairau Valley. The fruit is whole-bunch pressed, cold-settled before fermentation and aged for 3 to 4 months in stainless steel vats .
Grape variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
