The Sacred Wood - The Thousand Feet 2022
Le Bois Sacré is located in Lucq-de-Béarn, in the Jurançon region . In 1888, the Saint-Martin family moved into the Cougot house, and since then, generations have worked on the farm, farming livestock, growing corn, and growing wine. In 1980, Pierre (the great-grandson) and his wife Rose-Marie turned more towards viticulture by restructuring and expanding the vineyard. Today, Laurent and Pauline , the fifth generation, are continuing the family legacy by adding another dimension: the creation of the Le Bois Sacré wine estate. The vineyard covers 4 hectares facing the Pyrenees at an altitude of 280 meters. The vines are managed with respect for the environment, without certification.
Les Mille Pieds is a blend of Gros Manseng (80%) and Petit Manseng (20%) , whose vines are on average 25 years old, harvested manually. After pressing and settling at low temperature, the Petit Manseng is fermented in barrels and the Gros Manseng in vats . The aging on lees lasts 6 months, with regular stirring, followed by an initial racking and then 3 additional months on fine lees. This dry Jurançon is bottled with approximately 1.5 g/L of residual sugars.
Grape varieties: 80% Gros Manseng, 20% Petit Manseng
"Aromas of exotic fruits, candied lemon and a subtle smoky touch from the Petit Manseng in barrels."
