Château La Negly - Brise Marine 2025
Château La Négly is one of the emblematic estates of La Clape, this Languedoc massif facing the Mediterranean, between garrigue, limestone, sea winds, and southern light. Located in Fleury-d’Aude, the estate benefits from a spectacular environment, formerly an island, where the vines enjoy both Mediterranean warmth and refreshing sea influences. Since being taken over by the Paux-Rosset family, La Négly has established itself as an essential reference in Languedoc, with precise, expressive wines deeply marked by their origin. The Brise Marine 2025 perfectly illustrates this signature, in a bright, saline, and immediately charming white version. Its name evokes the maritime influence that shapes the wine’s balance and brings that characteristic iodized freshness. The cuvée highlights a modern and elegant expression of Mediterranean white grape varieties. It is a wine of pleasure but also of terroir, capable of combining aromatic generosity, freshness, and good structure on the palate.
The Brise Marine 2025 cuvée is made from a blend of Mediterranean white grape varieties, with Bourboulenc, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, Rolle, and Clairette mentioned among the main varieties. Bourboulenc brings freshness, tension, and a slightly saline dimension, while Roussanne adds more texture, ripe fruit, and depth. Rolle enhances aromatic elegance and floral notes, while Clairette and Grenache Blanc contribute to balance, roundness, and drinkability. The vines grow on a clay-limestone terroir facing the sea, on the eastern slope of the La Clape massif. The grapes are hand-harvested in small crates, then pressed whole cluster to preserve the finesse and purity of the juices. Low-temperature fermentation preserves the wine’s aromatic brightness, followed by 4 to 6 months aging in concrete tanks on fine lees. The result is a precise, fresh, and generous Mediterranean white, where the material is always carried by beautiful liveliness.
In the glass, Château La Négly La Brise Marine 2025 reveals a sparkling, clear, and luminous robe. The nose opens with exotic fruits, mango, white peach, and ripe citrus, with a hint of fresh almond. The palate is lively, saline, and generous, with a beautiful fruit power perfectly balanced by maritime freshness. The lees texture adds volume without weighing down the whole, while an iodized and mineral note extends the finish. This white stands out for its sunny but thirst-quenching character, in a style very representative of the great whites of La Clape. It will be ideal as an aperitif but especially at the table with Mediterranean tuna tartare, grilled fish, seafood, sea bream with preserved lemon, shrimp, fresh herb cuisine, or sheep’s cheese. Serve around 8 to 10°C, in its youth, to fully enjoy its aromatic brightness and saline finish.
