Château Mazeyres 2018
Château Mazeyres, located in the heart of Pomerol, aptly expresses the estate's philosophy: balance, purity, and respect for life. Under the direction of Sylvie Vauthier, the vineyard is managed biodynamically, an approach that values the vitality of the soils and precise ripeness. The château's 25 hectares lie on soils of fine clay, gravel, and clay-loam sand, offering a rich and nuanced palette of expression.
The warm and concentrated 2018 vintage produced dense and harmonious wines. The blend, dominated by Merlot with a portion of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, was vinified gently and aged in barrels, a measured proportion of which were new, to combine depth and finesse.
The nose opens with intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and plum, complemented by notes of violet, graphite, and cocoa. On the palate, the texture is velvety, ample, and refined. The pure, juicy fruit blends with a perfectly integrated tannic structure. The mid-palate seduces with its balanced density and underlying freshness, while the long, refined finish stretches with nuances of truffle, undergrowth, and sweet spices.
A distinguished and harmonious Pomerol, both delicious and precise, which reflects the mastery of biodynamic work on this great terroir. Enjoy now after aeration, or keep for around ten years. Serve between 16 and 17°C.
