Domaine Les Poëte - Pouilly-Fumé 2024
Located in Preuilly, in the Berry region, Domaine Les Poëte was born from Guillaume Sorbe's desire to offer a personal interpretation of the great terroirs of Central Loire. Coming from a family of winemakers, this former sommelier built his estate around a demanding philosophy, summed up by a motto: "Less but better." The vineyard is managed with particular attention to biodiversity, soil life, and the natural balance of each plot. While the estate is mainly associated with its Reuilly and Quincy cuvées, Guillaume Sorbe also explores the expression of Sauvignon Blanc through the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. Situated on the right bank of the Loire, opposite Sancerre, this appellation is renowned for the diversity of its terroirs, where limestones, Kimmeridgian marls, and flint clays meet. These different geological formations give rise to Sauvignons with varied personalities, ranging from floral finesse to more structured and mineral expressions. The Pouilly-Fumé from Les Poëte fits into this search for precision, with an interpretation that favors freshness and depth rather than excessive varietal aromatics.
The 2024 Pouilly-Fumé is made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc, the only authorized grape variety for white wines of the appellation. Guillaume Sorbe seeks a maturity that allows maintaining the balance between aromatic expression, natural acidity, and texture. Vineyard work aims to preserve soil vitality and limit interventions that could alter the identity of the grapes. Harvesting is conducted with particular attention to sanitary condition and raw material selection, two essential elements in a 2024 vintage marked by cool and humid weather in the Loire Valley.
