Les Vignes Saint Vincent - Michel Delhommeau - Moulin d'Abas 2023
Anchored in Monnières, in the heart of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine, the Michel Delhommeau estate cultivates a precise interpretation of the Loire soils. Vines are carefully managed, harvested at just the right level of ripeness, and matured patiently. The wines emphasize straightforwardness, a clear salinity, and a digestible energy that works wonders at the table.
Pièce du Moulin d'Abas 2023 is a single-plot selection from stony hillsides where the Melon de Bourgogne expresses a chalky tension and noble bitterness. Slow pressing of whole bunches, gravity settling, indigenous fermentation at low temperature. Aged on fine lees until bottling to gain texture and complexity without losing the momentum of the vintage. Dry, unoaked profile, designed for the authenticity of the terroir.
On the nose, the register is clear and precise on yellow lemon, fresh pear and white apple, with nuances of hawthorn blossom, wet stone and a hint of almond. The palate is slender and sapid. Lively attack, saline heart of the mouth on zesty citrus and crisp apple, silky texture carried by the aging on lees. The finish is long, straight, slightly iodized, with a bitterness of bark that marks the Muscadet of character.
At the table, serve Pièce du Moulin d'Abas 2023 with oysters, sea bass ceviche, natural clams, sushi, pikeperch with beurre blanc, or roasted chicken with lemon and thyme. It pairs well with Loire goat cheeses. Ideal temperature: 9 to 11°C in a tulip glass. Open fifteen minutes before serving. Aging potential: three to five years to enhance the saline and almond notes.
Grape variety: 100% Melon de Bourgogne
