Maison Camille Thiriet - Côte de Nuits-Villages - La Montagne 2024
Maison Camille Thiriet is one of the most remarkable signatures of the new generation of Burgundy winemakers. Founded in 2016 by Camille Thiriet, alongside Matt Chittick, it has developed in the heart of the Côte de Nuits with an artisanal, precise approach that is very sensitive to the terroirs. The estate works on single-vineyard cuvées in Côte de Nuits-Villages and Burgundy, with the ambition to reveal areas sometimes less publicized but rich in expression. The vinifications favor gentleness, measured extractions, and respect for the fruit, in a minimally interventionist spirit. This quest for brightness and accuracy gives birth to fine, lively wines deeply rooted in their origin. “La Montagne” 2024 fits into this contemporary and demanding reading of the Côte de Nuits.
This single-vineyard cuvée comes from the Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation, in red, made from Pinot Noir. Available information indicates old vines, with ages ranging from 50 to 60 years depending on sources, planted on a hillside terroir with a strong limestone dominance or clay-sandy soil according to published descriptions. The sought profile remains that of a site-specific Pinot Noir, precise, tense, and expressive, leaning more towards finesse than power. The vinification relies on artisanal gestures, with indigenous yeasts, light remontages, gentle infusion, and few additives to preserve the natural energy of the grape. The 2024 vintage should offer a fresh and slender interpretation of this parcel, with clean fruit and a delicate structure. Overall, it well reflects the spirit of the house: a confidential, carefully crafted, and vibrant Burgundy.
On tasting, this Côte de Nuits-Villages red seduces with its refined expression of red fruits, cherry, raspberry, and small black fruits, accompanied by floral nuances and fine spices. The palate is elegant, straight, and subtly structured, with fine tannins supporting the wine without hardening its balance. The freshness of the vintage enhances the sensation of precision, while the finish reveals a beautiful mineral and fruity persistence. This wine will benefit from being served slightly chilled, around 15 to 16°C, after a short aeration in its youth. It will perfectly accompany roasted poultry, pork tenderloin, duck breast, sautéed mushrooms, or moderately aged cheese. Its aging potential can reasonably be considered over several years, with a beautiful expected evolution towards greater complexity.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
