Maison Camille Thiriet - Côte de Nuits-Villages - La Robignotte - Monopole 2024
Since 2016, Maison Camille Thiriet has established itself as one of the most followed addresses of the new Burgundy generation. Located in Comblanchien, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, the house is led by Camille Thiriet and Matt Chittick, with an artisanal approach focused on the discreet terroirs of Burgundy. The cuvées are crafted in small quantities, with a pursuit of precision, freshness, and parcel expression. The estate favors gentle vinifications, indigenous yeasts, and measured extractions to preserve the natural brightness of the fruit. This philosophy gives birth to fine, vibrant wines deeply rooted in their place of origin. “La Robignotte – Monopole” 2024 embodies one of the most confidential and ambitious faces of this production.
This cuvée comes from a small monopole climat, located in the Corgoloin or Comblanchien sector depending on sources, within the Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation. The terroir is described as clay-limestone, crossed by a vein of blue marls, an element that brings depth, flesh, and mineral tension to the wine. The old vines, around 60 years old, produce a concentrated but refined Pinot Noir, with naturally dense matter. The vinification includes a proportion of whole cluster, indicated between 40% and 80% depending on sources, followed by aging in wood with a moderate share of new oak. The 2024 vintage thus highlights a serious and expressive reading of this terroir, without losing the elegance characteristic of the house. The whole stands out by a depth superior to the more immediate cuvées of the estate.
On tasting, this red Côte de Nuits-Villages reveals an intense profile, marked by black cherry, ripe red fruits, violet, and fine spicy nuances. The palate combines density, freshness, and precision, with an elegant tannic framework that supports the wine without weighing it down. The finish maintains a beautiful tension, carried by discreet minerality and a very Burgundian energy. This 2024 can be appreciated after a few years in the cellar, with interesting potential around 2028 to 2032 according to the first available notes. It will ideally accompany roast duck, veal chop, beef fillet, mushrooms, or poultry in sauce. A rare, expressive, and racé cuvée, showing all the ambition of Camille Thiriet on the terroirs of Côte de Nuits-Villages.
