Proud of Father Cristal's heritage, the new owners attach great importance to the “CLOS D'ENTRE LES MURS” which is still today the originality of the Château de Parnay and its brand image. Faithful to the tradition of Father Cristal, this vineyard and its walls are the object of all the attention of wine growers.
THE “CLOS D'ENTRE LES MURS” is made up of 11 walls, built in parallel from East to West between 1898 and 1904, on the initiative of Father Cristal. They are two meters high and are 60 cm thick, their total length is 1200 m .
The peculiarity of these walls lies in the orifices made at their base, at regular intervals and which pass right through them. Each wall therefore has one face facing south and the other facing north. Father Cristal's ingenuity consisted in using the north side to plant his vines, allowing them to benefit from the freshness and humidity and to make them cross the wall to benefit from the heat on the south side where the vines, trellis can flourish and give a maximum of grapes and ensure maximum maturity.
It is this original technique which gives the wine of "CLOS D'ENTRE LES MURS" an astonishing quality. The winemakers of Château de Parnay are committed to continuing the work of Father Cristal, producing this wine with the utmost respect for the know-how and rules invented by their illustrious predecessor.
