CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE Domaine Bois de Boursan - Cuvée des Félix 2010
The Bois de Boursan estate was created in the mid-1950s by the father of Jean-Paul Versino. The latter joined him in 1983, after leaving university. His only training, he took it from books and by following the experience of his father who has always worked in organic viticulture.
"I was not contaminated by the culture of the 80s, which encouraged performance by moving towards chemicals," says Jean-Paul. Here, we produce very beautiful châteauneuf-du-pape in a classic style dominated by unstemmed Grenache, aged in casks. In 1995, the estate expanded with a few plots of very old vines and, at the same time, the market was in demand for more powerful wines. Thus was born the Félix vintage, aged in used barrels with 25% Mourvèdre. If we prefer the very beautiful Tradition cuvée for its balance, depth and silky smoothness, lovers of more structured wines will go for the Félix cuvée. In a very different style, these are two wines of the highest caliber.
The wines: Félix's nose evokes prunes and dates, even squid ink. On the palate, after a fine attack, it shows a lot of solidity.
