VELIER - Old Rum - Indian Ocean Stills - Chamarel 2014 - 58% 2014
Habitation Velier is a project born from the will of Luca Gargano, probably the greatest rum specialist in this world. Luca Gargano comes from a large Italian family, known for the quality of his goods, a family of explorers who aims a qualitative rather than lucrative distribution. For each distilleries, the aim is to highlight the best distillers from their Pure Single rums, each time with an original project signed by Habitation Velier to produce a world first for each unique signature distillery.
Chamarel is one of the few totally independent distilleries, so it produces all of its sugar canes that are harvested by hand for immediate grinding at the mill. After a controlled fermentation, the Chamarel distillery has a great versatility to carry out the distillation, equipped with a brass Bardet type column (continuous distillation) for its white rums and 2 stills made of brass heated with steam (iron distillation , necessary to be able to make the cuts), Chamarel can thus produce rums of an immense finesse. After a natural reduction in stainless steel tanks of 6 months minimum, the eaux-de-vie can be aged in oak barrels of different types or reduced with a very pure spring water located a few steps from the distillery before being bottled.
The quality of Chamarel did not fail to attract the sharp attention of the Velier house who chose this rum old Indian Ocean Stills 2014 vintage distilled single column. After a maturing of 4 years, this rum was bottled Brut de Fût in a limited edition of 2284 bottles.
