It is because part of the vineyard adjoins the Margaux appellation that the wines of Château Citran present such great elegance. This reference from Haut-Médoc, whose oldest known origins date back to 1235, joined the circle of great Bordeaux thanks to the work of the Merlaut family, owners of the château since 1996. The vineyard now covers around one hundred hectares.
Made from cabernet-sauvignon and merlot in equal parts, the great Château Citran wine exudes notes of red fruits and black fruits, tinged with floral nuances, with a subtle woody note. It can be enjoyed in its youth, but the remarkable 2009 today shows that the wine is also apt to age.
