Château des Annereaux - L'Ane Mort 2016
The history of the estate is long and rich, it begins in 1390. The descendants of the Annereau family have exploited until today without discontinuity, the lands of their ancestors.
1598 is the presumed date of the construction of a large house that will be called "manor". In 1660, Marguerite Annereau married André Malescot and for more than two hundred years, the Malescot family oversaw the Annereaux. In 1818, the "Manor" is raised by a floor. In 1873, Caroline Soehnée took the direction of Domaine des Annereaux. She courageously faces the phylloxera crisis by choosing the camp of the "Americanists" favorable to the grafting against the "chemists" (favorable to the fight by carbon sulphide). She conducted scientifically rigorous trials of grafting and rootstocks. Her efforts were rewarded in 1879 by the Viticultural and Agricultural Committee of Libourne. In 1912, the "manoir" is redesigned and takes the appearance of an Italian villa with its pink plaster, it is now called "Château".
In 1956, after the difficulties of the war and the economic problems, a terrible frost destroys a large part of the vineyard, and the Annereau family resigns to uproot entirely the 35 hectares of vineyards. In 1969, Jean Milhade, winemaker and wine merchant, bought half of the Indivision des Annereaux. The replanting of the vineyard has begun: in 2004, the family estate was reconstituted and converted to Organic Farming in 2007.
Today, the vineyard covers 25 hectares: 22.7ha in the Lalande de Pomerol appellation and 2.3ha in the Bordeaux appellation. On the Lalande de Pomerol appellation is found 85% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon.
