AUGUSTE CLAPE - Le Cornas 2008
Domaine Auguste Clape is located in the Cornas appellation, in the Northern Rhône. The estate was founded by Clape's grandfather, a grower who moved from Languedoc after the grower strikes of 1906-1907 and set up in Cornas. Today, the estate comprises 8 hectares of old Syrah vines. And the Auguste Clape Cornas is one of the most popular wines from the appellation. Auguste Clape also makes a Côtes-du-Rhône and the “Vin des Amis” Vin de France from 100% Syrah, as well as tiny amounts of Saint Péray Blanc from just 0.2 hectares of Marsanne.
The vinification is traditional, in whole bunches, light crushing, and fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The aging is carried out in old barrels of 1.000 litres during minimum two years.
The 2008 vintage has been ready to drink since 2012 but can be kept until 2023.
Grape variety: 100% Syrah
