Suertes del Marques - 7 Fuentes 2016
Suertes del Marqués is a family winery that has been producing wines since 2006 in the Canary Islands. However, their tradition as winegrowers dates back to twenty years ago that date, growing and selling grapes to other wineries in the Apellation Valle de La Orotava. The property is formed by 11 hectares of vineyards ranging from 300 to 750 metres above sea level, all of them with different orientations and soil composition. Moreover, Suertes del Marqués works another 15 hectares with vine growers of the area with vineyards with altitudes between 250-800 meters. At Suertes del Marqués, the team artificially interferes as little as possible in the production of the wines: using only indigenous yeasts and minimal amounts of sulfur, avoiding racking. All processes in the cellar are carried out by hand, from works in the vineyard to harvest. They avoid any systemic treatments in the vineyard, using only natural products when vine diseases eventually arise. The cellar is equipped with different sizes concrete tanks in which the fermentation is carried out. The aging of the wines is made in small french oak foudres of 500 litres and also with bigger sizes, from 2,000 to 4,500 litres.
7 Fuentes is composed of 35 plots from area winegrowers and from the family property with vines ranging from 10 to approximately 180 years old. The heights of the different vineyards ranges from 250 to 800 meters above sea level. This wine is made with two varietals: Listán Negro (90%) and Tintilla (10%). Each plot is vinified separately in small concrete and stainless steel tanks. 60% of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in concrete tanks, and the rest in French oak casks of 500 litres. The ageing lasts 8 months; 60% of the wine in concrete tanks and 40% of the wine in French oak barrels.
Grape varieties: 90% Listán Negro, 10% Tintilla
