Eric Texier - Crazy Cat 2020
Eric Texier became a winemaker after a first career and without a family background in the vineyard or wine. After giving up buying vineyards, a too expensive proposition for a beginner with his ambitions, he launched a small trading company where he selected particularly interesting plots of vineyards with farmers who grew the healthy grapes he wanted to buy and vinify. He rediscovered forgotten areas of old renown , such as Brézème in the north of the Côtes-du-Rhône, and has since acquired plots in Côte Rôtie and Condrieu in the north of the Rhône, and replanted several hectares in Brézème, with Syrah and Roussanne .
This is how he managed to produce a thirty different wines , from 10 different origins , from Bussières in the Mâconnais, north of the Rhône and south of the Côtes-du-Rhône. The wines are vinified in their production areas.
Crazy Cat 2020 is a Côtes-du-Rhône AOP made from Grenache (60%), Cinsault (25%) and Clairette and Roussanne (15%) grown on granite soil. The grapes are destemmed and undergo cold maceration for aromatic extraction. The wine is fermented with natural yeasts, with punching down and pumping over twice a day and then aged 15 months in concrete vats .
Grapes: 60% Grenache, 25% Cinsault, 15% Clairette & Roussanne
