MHOBA - American Oak Aged - 43%
Mhoba is an agricultural amber rum produced in South Africa. It is made from a local sugarcane variety called Nkomazi. The cane juice is fermented in part by a local baker's yeast as well as wild yeasts. The distillation is carried out using an iron still designed by Robert Greaves.
The American Oak Aged is initially aged in large glass demijohns with American white oak staves that are cut and charred on wood-fire coals at the distillery. The Glass Cask rum is then transferred to ex-South African whisky casks for secondary maturation.
