Château MONTROSE 1981
Château Montrose is located in the commune of Saint-Estèphe , in the Médoc of Bordeaux . It was ranked Second Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification. The vineyard covers 95 hectares and borders Cos d'Estournel and Pauillac. It is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Since 2006, the estate has been investing in environmental aspects such as recycling rainwater and waste water, and also using, for example, solar energy and low-consumption installations.
The grapes are picked by hand and carefully selected. Vinification takes place in stainless steel vats over 20 days with several pumping overs per day to extract more aromas. Blending takes place before malolactic fermentation. The wine then goes into barrels for ageing. Château Montrose is aged for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels, 60% of which are new.
