Château LA LAGOON 2010
Château La Lagune is located in the Haut-Médoc of the Bordeaux wine region. It was classified Third Grand Cru Classé in the classification of 1855. The property was founded in 1724 but in the 1950s it was almost abandoned following the Second World War, the economic depression and the frosts of 1956 She was saved in 1958 by Georges Brunette. Since 2000, the property has belonged to Swiss billionaire Jean-Jacques Frey and his family. Head winemaker Caroline Frey , Jean-Jacques' daughter, also produces wine from a small vineyard in Fully, in Switzerland's Valais wine region. The La Lagune vineyard, grown in non-certified organic farming , covers 80 hectares on a south-facing gravel hill of well-drained white pebbles that reflect the sun onto the fruit, aiding ripening.
Château La Lagune 2010 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (30%) and Petit Verdot (10%) . Vinification takes place in stainless steel vats then the wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels , 55% of which are new.
