Château Le Grand Verdus - White 2021
Château Le Grand Verdus is located in Sadirac, in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. It belongs to the Le Grix de la Salle family . In 1947, after the Second World War, the family began to cultivate vines on their estate. In 1973, Philippe Le Grix de la Salle left the Créon cooperative to make wine on the property. He was joined two years later by his son Antoine, after spending a few months in Napa Valley, with Robert Mondavi. For twenty years, they will share the same office and meet importers, promoting the tradition and history of their wine. Since 2008, Thomas, the eldest of Antoine's two sons, has definitely arrived on the family estate, taking over the vinification and marketing of the property's wines. In 2019, Édouard, Antoine's second son, joined the family property with the aim of supporting his father in the management of the vineyard and bringing his know-how and his passion for agronomy. It also commits the property to its conversion to organic farming from 2020. Le Grand Verdus benefits from a unique geographical location on the break of the Entre-Deux-Mers plateau, differentiated microclimates and notable variations in altitude .
The 2021 Blanc is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (70%) and Sémillon (30%) . The harvest takes place during the night to preserve the freshness of the grapes. They are sorted then placed in short pellicular maceration and pressed. Fermentation takes place in vats at low temperature. The wine is aged for 5 months on the lees in stainless steel vats with stirring.
