Château TALBOT 1993
Château Talbot is a property of the Saint-Julien du Médoc appellation, in Bordeaux . It was ranked 4th Grand Cru Classé in the Bordeaux classification of 1855. The Château takes its name from Connétable Talbot, an English soldier and governor of Guyenne defeated in battle by the French at Castillon in 1453. For a century, it has belonged to members of the Cordier family . The Château is located in the center of the area of classified cru vineyards, inside the lands of the Léoville properties. The 107 hectare vineyard stretches north to the border with Pauillac, all but 5 hectares are planted with red varieties (66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot).
Château Talbot is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot . The wine is aged for 15 months in oak barrels, around 60% of which are new. The 1993 vintage for Bordeaux was complicated. A wet spring developed into a hot summer, however, September and October brought heavy downpours. Many wines have suffered from dilution but the best can still drink well now.
