CHARTREUSE - Elixir Liqueur 1605 - 2025 bottling - 56%
A true monument of French spirits heritage, Chartreuse has been produced by the Carthusian Fathers since the 17th century using a secret recipe incorporating 130 plants, roots, flowers and spices . This centuries-old tradition, passed down to only two monks at a time, gives Chartreuse its unique aura and unparalleled aromatic complexity.
The 1605 Elixir Liqueur was created to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the manuscript containing the original recipe for the “Elixir of Long Life” being given to the Carthusians in 1605. Bottled at 56% , this powerful and intense version highlights the herbaceous character and aromatic depth of the plants. The 2025 bottling continues this tradition of excellence and establishes itself as one of the house’s most emblematic vintages.
The deep green color heralds great intensity. The nose opens with an explosion of fresh herbs and spices, enhanced by balsamic, resinous, and slightly camphoric notes. On the palate, the texture is ample and generous: minty freshness, nuances of alpine plants, honeyed touches, and spicy complexity intertwine powerfully. The finish, endless and vibrant, embodies all the strength and nobility of Chartreuse, offering a taste experience of rare intensity.
