Clos Durandière - Étienne Bodet - Graippeaux 2022
La Durandière is located in Montreuil-Bellay, in the Saumur region of the Loire Valley. The estate was founded in 2020 by Étienne Bodet , a graduate in oenology from Reims. By taking over a few promising plots of land from Château de la Durandière, a family estate run by his father Antoine, he sought to unlock the potential of these vines. He quickly noticed that several of them were planted on soil with an unusual geological composition in the area. This vineyard is unique, being one of the few in Saumur to rest on a bedrock of hard Jurassic limestone, unlike the more common tuffeau stone in the region.
Graippeaux is a single-plot cuvée made from a mass selection of Chenin Blanc from vines around 70 years old. The wine is aged for 22 months in barrels of varying sizes (between 228 and 600 liters) of 1 to 2 wines.
Grape variety: 100% Chenin Blanc
"A vertical and vibrant wine, which seems sculpted from the rock, revealing all the nobility of its Jurassic terroir! Decant to fully appreciate its complexity."
