Bonnigal and Bodet Winegrowers - Clos de Beauce 2024
Bonnigal-Bodet Vignerons is an estate located in Limeray, in the Loire Valley. The estate has existed since 1927 and is still family-run. Today, the fourth generation, with Jean-Baptiste Bonnigal and his long-time friend Stéphane Bodet , runs the vineyard. They produce wines under the Touraine Amboise, Crémant de Loire and Touraine appellations, on 55 hectares. For them, the majority of the work is done in the vineyards: working the soil, enhancing the ecosystem, respecting nature and the environment. They are also relatively uninterventionist in the cellar to allow the terroir of each vintage to fully express itself. Ageing tends to be long, in oak barrels and on fine lees.
Clos de Beauce is made from Chenin Blanc grapes ranging in age from 50 to 70 years. The grapes are sorted on a sorting table and then pressed directly. Alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in 620-litre demi-muids followed by 8 months of aging on fine lees .
Grape variety: 100% Chenin Blanc
"Delicate nose of green apple, pear, and white flowers. The palate is fresh and mineral, with a lovely roundness brought by subtle aging. A Chenin Blanc that combines finesse and depth, a faithful reflection of the Loire terroir."
