Château d'Argens - Chant Libre 2023
The Château d’Argens, located in AOP Minervois, develops a unique vision of wine based on the intimate connection between the vegetal, the mineral, the light, and the attention given to the living. The estate is managed according to the principles of biodynamics, with the desire to let the vines fully express their energy and environment. Each cuvée is conceived as an aesthetic proposal as well as a vehicle of pleasure, intended to create moments of joy and sharing. This sensitive and committed approach gives the wines of Château d’Argens a strong, vibrant, and deeply contemporary identity. The estate is now established as one of the most inspiring players of the new generation Minervois.
The cuvée Chant Libre 2023 fits within this philosophy with a freer, more immediate, and decidedly convivial reading. Produced according to a natural method, it is made from a blend of Grenache and Syrah, without artifice, in order to preserve the purest expression of the fruit and the energy of the vintage. This cuvée stands out for its excellent quality-price ratio, making it a favorite of the estate, just like Chant de Lumière, but in a more accessible and spontaneous style. The 2023 vintage brings freshness, aromatic brightness, and drinkability, while maintaining true depth. Chant Libre embodies a lively, free, and sincere Minervois, designed for immediate pleasure without compromising quality.
On tasting, the wine offers great aromatic richness and an evolving reading. The nose opens with notes of wild strawberry, white flowers, and exotic fruits, before sliding towards deeper nuances of cocoa liqueur, crumbling red brick, old wood, and warm air evoking the wind of a summer night on a bridge. The finish reveals subtle notes of delicately salted caramel, bringing indulgence and relief. The palate is fluid, fresh, and expressive, with supple tannins and beautiful energy. This natural wine will perfectly accompany a charcuterie board, chicken and sun-ripened vegetable skewers, or simple and generous cuisine. It has a aging potential of 3 to 5 years, while being particularly appealing in its youth.
