Château RAYMOND LAFON 2019
Château Raymond-Lafon 2019, located in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, is an iconic family estate run by the Meslier family. A direct neighbor of the prestigious Château d'Yquem, the estate shares an exceptional terroir, composed of sandy-clay gravel on a limestone subsoil, promoting concentration and aromatic purity. The château's philosophy is based on meticulous viticulture and successive hand-picking, essential to the success of its great sweet wines.
The 2019 vintage benefited from ideal conditions for the development of Botrytis cinerea (noble rot), resulting in remarkably rich grapes. Made primarily from Sémillon, supplemented with a little Sauvignon Blanc, the wine is aged in French oak barrels, a significant proportion of which are new, for approximately 18 months. This long aging gives the wine a smooth texture and rare aromatic complexity.
The nose opens with a sumptuous bouquet of acacia honey, candied apricot, orange peel, and saffron, with a hint of vanilla and beeswax. On the palate, the liqueur is rich yet precise, balanced by a fine and persistent acidity. The heart of the wine, silky and deep, unfolds with flavors of exotic fruits, quince paste, and dried fruits. The finish, long and luminous, leaves an impression of purity and freshness.
A great Sauternes of balance and refinement, promising long aging potential, ideal with pan-fried foie gras, blue cheese with parsley, or an apricot tart. Serve between 10 and 12°C.
