Domaine Camin Larredya -La Part Davant 2017


The Camin Larredya estate has been in existence for over 800 years. "Larredya" designates a place where shingles, roofing pieces, were made in chestnut. The property took the form of a farm, where, among other things, grapes were grown. In the 19th century, the estate produced a thirst-quenching wine, from the Petit Manseng variety, intended for local consumption in inns. Phylloxera, which arrived late in the South-West of France, devastated a large part of the Jurançon vineyard in 1920. Viticulture at the Camin Larredya estate picked up at the beginning of the 1960s, when its owner Jean Grussaute joined forces with other winegrowers, all convinced of the terroir's capabilities, to replant vines on the terrace in the Jurançon appellation. Initially, the grapes were sold to a cooperative cellar, the first bottling at the estate took place in 1975. When Jean Grussaute died in 1983, the estate had 4 hectares of vines. His son Jean-Marc Grussaute took the lead in 1988.

From his superb vineyard planted on the terrace in a green cirque of La Chapelle-de-Rousse, Jean-Marc Grussaute has hoisted Camin Larredya to the top of the Jurançon appellation. By dint of perseverance and work in the vineyard (mass selections and biodynamic certification in 2016) and in the cellar (refinement of blends, pressing and aging), this former rugby player from the Section Paloise manages to produce dry white wines. and mellow of high quality. They combine the strength of the Jurançon terroir (translated by a bitter and acid fiery), the brilliance of the juices, luminous acidities, salivating bitters and the finesse due to a perfect mastery of the vinification.
