Domaine de l'Arlot - Cuvée Mont des Oiseaux 2023
Located in Premeaux-Prissey, south of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine de l'Arlot cultivates a precise vision of its terroirs with certified organic and biodynamic viticulture. The Clos de l'Arlot, a historic walled monopole, serves as the foundation for some of the estate's wines and imparts a remarkably refined, limestone character.
Mont des Oiseaux 2023 is a Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru produced in small quantities from young vines located within the Clos de l'Arlot. The wine aims for vibrant fruit and elegant texture rather than power. It is aged for approximately fifteen to eighteen months in oak barrels, with nearly thirty percent new oak, to add structure without masking the freshness. The cuvée takes its name from the small path overlooking the old quarry within the Clos, connecting the white parcel of La Gerbotte to this selection of Pinot Noir.
The nose opens with aromas of raspberry, redcurrant, and crisp cherry, enhanced by peony petals, orange peel, and a touch of licorice. The palate is both precise and velvety, driven by juicy acidity that lengthens the red fruit core and by a very fine, chalky texture. Aging suggests a nuance of stone fruit and fine oak without heaviness. The long, flavorful finish prolongs the fresh fruit on a mouthwatering texture with a hint of sweet spice.
At the table, this vintage favors harmonious pairings. It complements roast veal fillet, pigeon with chanterelles, free-range poultry with herbs, brown mushroom risotto, or white fish with red wine sauce. Soft, bloomy-rind cheeses like a mature Brie de Meaux respect its delicate mouthfeel.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
