Domaine de l'Arlot - Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots 2023
Born in Premeaux-Prissey in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, Domaine de l'Arlot has been cultivating certified organic and biodynamic vineyards for over twenty years, dedicated to showcasing the purity of Burgundy's great terroirs. Owned by AXA Millésimes, the estate produces Pinot Noir wines of serene precision, driven by meticulous cultivation and winemaking practices.
Les Suchots 2023 comes from a Premier Cru vineyard in Vosne-Romanée, located between Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Echézeaux, and Richebourg. The grapes are entirely destemmed and then spontaneously fermented in stainless steel tanks for fifteen days with indigenous yeasts and daily pump-overs. The wine is aged for fifteen months in 228-liter French oak barrels, forty percent of which are new, followed by a month and a half in tanks. Bottling took place on February 13, 2025. The yield reached fifty-two hectoliters per hectare, reflecting a generous vintage carefully managed through rigorous selection.
The nose opens with aromas of raspberry and fresh strawberry, rose and violet, then hints of sweet spice and blond tobacco emerge with aeration. The palate unfolds with a silky, precise texture, a heart of juicy red fruit framed by a saline structure and a subtle chalky character. The fine, tight tannins enclose a savory energy that leads to a long, focused finish, lingering with notes of rose petals, Morello cherry, and the faintest hints of fine oak.
At the table, this Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru calls for a black truffle risotto, a roasted veal fillet with a light jus, pigeon with cocoa sauce, or duckling glazed with mild spices. It pairs perfectly with sautéed chanterelles, a cardoon gratin, or a mature Brie de Meaux, which highlights its velvety texture without overpowering its freshness.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
