Domaine Morey Coffinet - Saint Aubin 1er Cru - Le Charmois 2024
The Domaine Morey-Coffinet, based in Chassagne-Montrachet in Côte de Beaune, stands out as one of the most precise and committed signatures of current Burgundy. Managed under certified organic farming FR-BIO-01, the estate favors meticulous soil work and controlled yields to preserve the natural balance of the vine. The harvest is done manually and the vinifications are minimally interventionist, seeking purity and tension rather than showiness. The aging, long and measured, supports the wines without masking the identity of the climats. Even on Saint-Aubin, the estate applies the same rigor as for its most prestigious premier crus.
The Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Le Charmois 2024 is made exclusively from Chardonnay, from a climat known for its elegance and minerality. Located on typical clay-limestone soils of the commune, Le Charmois benefits from a favorable exposure that allows for progressive and balanced ripening. The 2024 vintage highlights a beautiful freshness combined with precise maturity. The vinification is followed by aging in carefully selected oak barrels, bringing complexity and structure while respecting the natural brightness of the fruit. This cuvée illustrates a straight and chiselled expression of the Saint-Aubin terroir.
On tasting, the wine reveals an elegant nose of white flowers, fresh citrus, and white-fleshed fruits, enhanced by a subtle toasted and mineral touch. The palate is taut and harmonious, carried by a beautiful limestone energy and a fine texture. The balance between freshness and amplitude gives the wine depth and precision. The finish is long, saline, and refined, a signature of the great premier crus of the Côte de Beaune. This Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Le Charmois 2024 will ideally accompany noble fish, shellfish, or poultry in a light sauce, and can evolve favorably over several years in the cellar.
