Domaine Sant Armettu - Mino Rosé 2025
The Domaine Sant Armettu flourishes in the south of Corsica, on hills bathed in light overlooking the upper Baracci valley and the Gulf of Propriano. Between sea, mountains, and maquis, this vineyard benefits from a unique island environment where sea breezes temper the heat and the relief preserves a certain freshness. The modern history of the estate dates back to Paul Seroin's establishment in 1964, before Gilles Seroin created the winery in 1996 to develop a true winemaking identity. The name Sant Armettu refers to the figure of a hermit associated with plants and healing, an origin that still nourishes the estate's imagination. The vines are part of a mosaic of Corsican terroirs, with granitic soils near the mountains and more clayey areas towards the Tizzano valley. This diversity allows Domaine Sant Armettu to produce wines from the Island of Beauty that are both expressive, sunny, and balanced. The Minò Rosé 2025 cuvée illustrates this accessible and sincere approach, designed as an entry point to the property's lively and gourmand style.
The Sant Armettu Minò Rosé 2025 is made under the IGP Island of Beauty designation, an indication that freely expresses the emblematic grape varieties of Corsica. This cuvée mainly combines Sciaccarellu, a red island grape known for its delicate fruit and suppleness, with Niellucciu, which adds more structure and depth. The grapes come from the hills of the Gulf of Propriano, on a terroir composed of granitic sand, conducive to bright, digestible, and aromatic rosés. The harvest is destemmed and sorted, then pressed before a vinification of about four weeks. The aging is done entirely in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of the fruit, aromatic brightness, and freshness of the vintage. In style, Minò Rosé 2025 presents itself as a lively, light, and festive Corsican rosé, without any heaviness. Nevertheless, it retains a beautiful presence on the palate, with the Mediterranean generosity that characterizes Domaine Sant Armettu's wines.
On tasting, Domaine Sant Armettu Minò Rosé 2025 reveals a pale pink robe, clear and bright, with delicately salmon reflections. The nose opens with tangy notes of English candy, orange, and citrus, complemented by a touch of exotic fruits. The palate offers a soft, almost creamy attack that brings immediate pleasure while maintaining a sensation of lightness. Sciaccarellu gives the wine its fruity and thirst-quenching character, while Niellucciu supports the balance with a discreet structure. The finish is tangy, fresh, and joyful, ideal for prolonging the tasting without weighing down the palate. This Island of Beauty rosé will naturally accompany an aperitif, grilled fish, a Mediterranean salad, roasted vegetables, or a summer cuisine with maquis herbs. It is best enjoyed young, within about two years, to fully appreciate its fruit, liveliness, and aromatic brightness.
