The Tartufaia Barolo 2021 from the Giulia Negri estate comes from the heights of La Morra, from plots located around the famous Brunate area, where marl-limestone soils give nebbiolo an expression that is both elegant and structured. The estate, managed with great precision by Giulia Negri, favors attentive viticulture and measured vinifications to preserve the natural finesse of the grape variety and the clarity of the terroir. This cuvée, whose name refers to the historic truffle lands of the area, embodies a contemporary vision of Barolo, focused on balance and transparency rather than a display of power. The 2021 vintage, recognized for its consistency and freshness, allowed a slow and even maturation of the nebbiolo, offering concentrated but perfectly balanced grapes. The 2021 Tartufaia thus fits into a refined, precise, and already very readable style, while retaining excellent aging potential. On the nose, the wine reveals a refined aromatic profile of Morello cherry, ripe raspberry, and wild strawberry, complemented by floral notes of dried rose and violet. Upon aeration, more complex nuances of licorice, black tea, blond tobacco, and a balsamic touch appear, recalling the classic identity of Barolo. On the palate, the attack is straight and elegant, supported by a structuring acidity that stretches the body with precision. The tannins, fine and tight, outline a noble framework without austerity, allowing a clear fruit expression and a chalky minerality characteristic of the soils of La Morra. The mid-palate combines tension and depth, with a harmonious progression towards a long, fresh, and persistent finish marked by floral and spicy notes. The Tartufaia Barolo 2021 will ideally accompany gourmet cuisine, roasted or stewed meats, mushroom risotto, herb-seasoned veal, pigeon, or dishes based on truffle and aged cheeses. Its structure and elegance make it a wine perfectly suited to the table, capable of evolving favorably over ten to fifteen years. Clos des Millésimes Bordeaux offers this cuvée in a carefully selected range dedicated to great Italian terroir wines, highlighting estates with strong identity and precise expressions of nebbiolo. This 2021 Barolo is aimed at lovers of deep and refined wines, seeking a contemporary and faithful interpretation of the great crus of the Langhe.

Giulia Negri - La Tartufaia - Barolo 2021

Giulia Negri's La Tartufaia Barolo 2021 embodies an elegant and precise interpretation of high-altitude Nebbiolo, sourced from vines located on the cool slopes of La Morra. The bright garnet color signals a wine that is both concentrated and slender. The nose opens with aromas of Morello cherry, ripe raspberry, and wild strawberry, accompanied by floral notes of rose and violet. Hints of licorice, blood orange, and fine earth enrich the ensemble with great subtlety. The aromatic expression remains clear, chiseled, without excessive ripeness. From the first sniff, the wine displays an airy, refined style, true to the winemaker's approach. There is a strong readability of the terroir and a constant pursuit of balance.

On the palate, the attack is straight and precise, driven by a lively acidity that stretches the body with elegance. The tannins, typical of Nebbiolo, are fine, tight, and perfectly ripe, providing structure without harshness. The red fruit expresses itself clearly, supported by notes of sweet spices, black tea, and a slight balsamic touch. The aging, controlled and discreet, accompanies the wine without ever masking the identity of the grape variety or the cru. The texture is slender, almost saline, giving a sensation of verticality and controlled tension. The wine gains depth with aeration, revealing a progressive and harmonious complexity. The finish is long, persistent, marked by dried flowers, citrus, and refined minerality.

La Tartufaia Barolo 2021 is a great wine for fine dining, designed to fully express itself at the table as well as after a few years of aging. It will ideally accompany noble dishes such as mushroom risotto, braised meat, herb-seasoned veal, or cuisine with truffle accents. Its tannic finesse and natural freshness also allow it to pair with more subtle dishes, such as roasted poultry or sophisticated plant-based cuisine. Served around 16 to 18 °C, after careful aeration, it reveals all its complexity and elegance. Already charming for its precision and balance, it has excellent aging potential, evolving towards notes of fine leather, undergrowth, and noble spices. It is a contemporary Barolo, refined and deeply expressive, accurately illustrating the talent and sensitivity of Giulia Negri.
