La Terrasse d'Elise - Le Pradel 2024
La Terrasse d’Élise is one of the most sought-after estates in Languedoc, led by Xavier Braujou, a winemaker based in Hérault and recognized for his very personal interpretation of Mediterranean grape varieties. In a region long marked by powerful blends, the estate has chosen a different path, focused on single-varietal wines, low yields, and the pursuit of great finesse in texture. The wines are generally labeled as IGP Pays d’Hérault, which allows Xavier Braujou to work freely on his cuvées without losing the connection to local terroirs. Le Pradel holds a major place in this range, as it highlights Cinsault, a grape often associated with lightness but capable of remarkable depth when cultivated with care. The 2024 vintage fits this elegant, bright, and precise interpretation of Languedoc. La Terrasse d’Élise Le Pradel 2024 thus presents itself as a red wine of great delicacy, both Mediterranean, floral, and deeply digestible. This cuvée perfectly illustrates the estate’s ability to transform a supple grape variety into a wine of character and emotion.
The Le Pradel 2024 cuvée is made from 100% Cinsault, grown on terroirs of rolled pebbles and clay-limestone. The named plots “La Terrasse” and “Les Graves” are notably cited for this cuvée, bringing an interesting combination of ripeness, natural drainage, and freshness of structure. The Cinsault expresses here its most refined profile, with a light color, vibrant fruit, fine tannins, and a very silky texture. Xavier Braujou’s work aims to preserve the delicacy of the grape rather than pushing it towards power or extraction. The 2024 vintage yields a bright, fine, and juicy red wine, built on the purity of fruit and the elegance of the mouthfeel. Le Pradel stands out from Pradelou by a more accomplished, deeper, and more serious dimension, while retaining the immediate drinkability that makes Cinsault charming. It is a wine of precision, where aromatic finesse, freshness, and length matter more than concentration.
On tasting, La Terrasse d’Élise Le Pradel 2024 shows a clear, bright ruby color with an almost translucent shine. The nose may evoke fresh cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant, peony, dried flowers, sweet spices, and a touch of fine garrigue. On the palate, the wine is airy, supple, and very elegant, with a fluid yet persistent texture. The tannins are delicate, almost powdery, and the freshness brings a sensation of movement that extends the fruit. The finish remains fine, floral, and slightly spicy, with a beautiful sapidity that calls for food. This red will ideally accompany roasted poultry, a veal rack, a pork tenderloin, seared tuna, grilled vegetables, light Mediterranean cuisine, or a soft cheese. It can be served slightly chilled, around 14 to 15 °C, to preserve its aromatic brightness and delicate touch.
