La Terrasse d'Elise - K'Yenne 2024
La Terrasse d'Elise is one of the most unique estates in Languedoc, led by Xavier Braujou, a winemaker recognized for his highly precise wines under the IGP Pays d'Hérault designation. Located in an area influenced by the Terrasses du Larzac and the limestone terroirs of Hérault, the estate has established itself through a demanding, artisanal approach with great attention to the purity of varietal expressions. The cuvées of La Terrasse d'Elise often stand out for their desire to reveal a grape variety or blend with finesse, without seeking heaviness or showiness. K'Yenne holds a special place in the range as a rare white wine, produced in small quantities, highlighting the great southern white grape varieties. Unlike Siclène, another white from the estate, K'Yenne contains no Chardonnay, giving it a more Mediterranean and structured identity. The 2024 vintage continues this pursuit of elegance, tension, and depth. La Terrasse d'Elise K'Yenne 2024 thus presents itself as a confidential, refined Languedoc white, tailored for the table.
The K'Yenne 2024 cuvée is made from 80% Roussanne and 20% Marsanne, two emblematic grape varieties of southern France, particularly capable of expressing the texture, floral finesse, and depth of Mediterranean whites. Roussanne dominates the blend with its aromatic elegance, notes of white fruits, flowers, mirabelle plum, and its ability to bring tension. Marsanne complements the balance with more roundness, volume, and a more enveloping mouthfeel. The grapes come from a precise parcel selection on limestone soil, an essential element for the wine's freshness and structure. Aging for about one year in barrels adds structure, patina, and additional depth without masking the fruit expression. K'Yenne 2024 is distinguished by its balance between richness and acidity, in a style that is both taut, saline, and delicately aromatic. It is a characterful white, more structured than a simple fruit wine, yet maintaining great drinkability.
On tasting, La Terrasse d'Elise K'Yenne 2024 shows a clear robe with golden reflections, bright and luminous. The nose may evoke pear, white peach, mirabelle plum, hawthorn, white flowers, mandarin, fine honey, and a touch of almond. On the palate, the wine is round, lively, and refined, with ample body perfectly held by a beautiful limestone freshness. Roussanne brings floral finesse and tension, while Marsanne enriches the texture and extends the sensation of volume. The finish is long, salivating, and slightly mineral, with a beautiful balance between fruit ripeness, freshness, and aging depth. This white will ideally accompany scallops, a noble fish, creamy poultry, green curry prawns, vegetable risotto, or aged goat cheese. It can be enjoyed young after slight aeration but also has the structure necessary to evolve for a few years in the cellar.
