Château HAUT-BATAILLEY 2002
Château Haut-Batailley is located in Pauillac, in Bordeaux. It is one of the 18 Châteaux with the status of Fifth Growth, awarded by the 1855 classification. The Château was once part of the largest Château Batailley. It was bought in 1932 by brothers François and Marcel Borie, who divided it in two in 1942 to avoid conflicts of succession. François took the smallest property that did not include the physical castle and named the estate Haut-Batailley. He enlarged the estate by buying vineyards. Château Haut-Batailley now has 22 hectares of vines planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc blended in the final cuvée but planted in smaller proportions. Since 2017, the Château is owned by the Cazes family, firmly rooted in the Medoc landscape for several generations.
The Grand Vin is a classic Bordeaux blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon. The harvest is manual, the aging lasts about 18 months, entirely in barrels whose percentage of new oak varies according to the vintage.
