Domaine Chantal Lescure - Nuits Saint Georges 2016
Domaine Chantal Lescure is located in the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges, in Burgundy. Founded in 1975 by Chantal Lescure and Xavier Machard de Gramont, the family estate now operates 19 hectares of vines, to the north on the slopes of Dijon and to the south as far as Meursault. Aymeric and Thibault Machard de Gramont, Chantal Lescure's two sons, took over the estate when their mother passed away in 1996. Each year, they produce 19 cuvées from 35 plots. The vineyard has been fully cultivated in certified organic farming since 2006.
Nuits-Saint-Georges is a blend of three Pinot Noir plots: Les Creux Fraîches Eaux (0.15 hectares), Les Tuyaux (0.18 hectares) and Les Herbues (0.15 hectares). The grapes are sorted, destemmed, not crushed and vatted by gravity. They are vinified in 40-hectolitres stainless steel vats. Light punching down is carried out and the vatting lasts 18 to 25 days. The wines are aged in a cold cellar, in 20 to 30% new barrels, on lees for 16 to 18 months. The wine is racked one month before bottling.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
