Château Le Geai 2018
Located in the north of Libournais in Bordeaux, Henri Duporge's estate covers 18 hectares planted with Merlot, Cabernet, Malbec and Carménère Noire. He is the owner of Château Le Geai and Château Touzet. In 2000, he took over the family estate and created Château Le Geai, in an organic and biodynamic farming approach with Demeter certification. He himself takes care of the work of the vine, the vinification and the elaboration of the wine. The different grape varieties are vinified separately and Henri Duporge uses a very little interventionist technique called "Glougloutage". This consists of immersing the marc and maintaining it throughout its fermentation in an enclosed environment without any intervention; a bung allows the gas to escape and the wine to "gurgle" in the middle of the matter.
Le Geai is a blend of Merlot (70%), Cabernet Sauvignon (15%), Cabernet Franc (10%) with Malbec and Carménère (5%). It undergoes a pre-fermentation maceration with indigenous yeasts then a 3-week vatting. The wine is aged in barrels and in foudre for 12 months.
Grape varieties: 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and Carménère
