Domaine Julien Cecillon - Cornas - Saint Pierre 2019
Cave Julien Cécillon is located in Saint-Jean-de-Muzols, in the north of the Rhône Valley. The estate was founded in 2011 by the American Nancy Kerschen and Julien Cécillon, native of Tournon-sur-Rhône and nephew of Jean-Louis Grippat. Both are fascinated by wine, food and travel. After accumulating experiences in different wine estates around the world, they decided to start their own business with the intention of sharing their passion. The adventure begins with a small area of vines that represents the heart and soul of the estate: Saint Joseph. Today, Cave Cécillon offers several wines from other appellations such as Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Péray, Cornas, but also wines with single varietals. Respecting the unique environment of each appellation, the estate applies sustainable viticulture techniques in the vineyard to obtain the best expression of the terroir in each bottle. On the basis of their multiple experiences, they combine modern means, ancient traditions and innovative cultivation methods.
The Cornas Saint Pierre is made from a 0.30-hectare plot of Syrah, the vines of which are 25 years old. The vinification is carried out with 10% of whole bunches, uncrushed, the vatting lasts 20 days and the fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. Aging lasts 17 months, with 30% new barrels and the rest in barrels of 1 to 3 wines.
