Domaine Alain Graillot - Crozes Hermitage Blanc 2020
Domaine Alain Graillot is located in the Rhône Valley, in the Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage and Saint-Joseph appellation. The estate was founded in 1985 by Alain Graillot and now covers 22 hectares, mainly planted with Syrah and three hectares of Marsanne and Roussanne. He also owns two plots in Saint-Joseph and a small plot in Hermitage. The vineyards are conducted in non-certified organic farming.
Since 2010, Alain Graillot has left the Domaine's managment to his sons, Maxime and Antoine, to devote himself to a consulting activity in viticulture and oenology. This has taken him to multiple countries around the world where there are major wine producers. He first focused on what he knows best: Piedmont and Galicia. Then he chose to introduce producers from South Africa, Austria, Morocco, Australia, the United States and finally, Portugal. Since 2013, the Graillot family has also started producing Beaujolais wines at Domaine de Fa.
The Crozes-Hermitage Blanc is a blend of Marsanne (80%) and Roussanne (20%). Most of the wine is fermented in barrels aged from 1 to 5 years, with 20% new barrels. Malolactic fermentation is not sought. The wine is aged in stainless steel vats for one half of the wine, and in 600-litres demi-muids for the other half.
Grape varieties: 80% Marsanne, 20% Roussanne
