MEZAN - Belize 2008 - 46%
Mezan rums are rums from islands or countries of the West Indies and South or Central America. They are produced from a single vintage distillation, aged in oak barrels and bottled one barrel at a time, when ready, under the supervision of the cellar master.
Belize 2008 is produced from a distillery based in Belmopan. Molasses comes from locally crushed sugar cane. It is naturally fermented and then distilled in a triple column continuous still. This vintage was initially aged for 3 years in Belize in heavy-charred American Bourbon barrels before being re-barrelled in used white oak Bourbon casks that had previously been filled with other Caribbean rums. It was aged for a further 10 years in Europe.
